Ecology

Hebel has been recognised as an ecological construction material for years. Its lightness and the limited raw materials required for its production form a most beneficial equation for the environment. The raw materials - sand, air and water - are always present in large quantities in nature. Due to its composition, low energy consumption manufacturing process, high insulation values and completely recyclable nature, Hebel is a naturally durable and ecological material.

Energy consumption

High insulation values that significantly reduce the energy consumed in each building. In addition, less CO2 is emitted into the environment.
Low energy consumption manufacturing process.
Cellular concrete is an autoclaved material. The slightly hardened paste obtained after mixing the raw materials is removed from the mould, cut into slabs, and then placed in the autoclaves. The products remain there for about 12 hours at a pressure of 10 atm. and temperature of 180° C. On removal, the materials have hardened and are ready for use on site. This autoclave hardening process requires little energy.

Autoclave steam production
The steam used in the autoclaves is produced using two ultra-modern natural gas fired steam generators.
The installation of these two steam generators allowed for a 15% energy saving compared to the old models. The gases discharged into the atmosphere are also less harmful.

Composition
Hebel is an autoclaved cellular concrete comprising sand, water and air. It has the characteristics of a stone (solid, hard, rigid, rotproof and non-flammable) and the characteristics of an insulant (the air trapped in the cells is the best of insulants).

Raw materials
Hebel is a lightweight construction material the production of which requires few raw materials. The materials (sand, air and water) that constitute the slabs are present in abundance in nature. During manufacturing, the crust (excess material) is recovered and recycled. This continuous recycling at the manufacturing level means that only the exact quantity of material necessary is used.

Reinforcement
The reinforcement is formed from either two meshes or one, made from superior quality BE 500 S spot-welded steel wire. Before installation the meshes undergo anti-corrosion treatment (protection using ecological dispersion paint).

Material produced with recycled cellular concrete
Major investments have been made in recycling waste. All waste from cellular concrete is now recycled and reused in the factory, giving closed-cycle production.
This recycling of the finished product is possible due to a completely new cellular concrete waste reprocessing unit.
This reprocessing unit allows for 100% recycling of production waste, and also for the recycling of site waste or building demolition waste. The waste is ground until a fine powder is obtained, which is reintroduced into manufacturing as a raw material replacing sand. All waste is completely recycled and reintroduced into production, which is always closed-cycle.

Finished product
  • Recycling of waste after autoclaving.

  • Clean, harmless, environmentally friendly material.

  • During the manufacturing process, the chalk plays a “purifying” role. More CO2 is absorbed than emitted, which represents additional environmental protection.

  • Construction waste is class 3 (inert waste).
