Soundproofing has a significant effect on living comfort. It is also an aspect that is deserving of the necessary attention in both new-build and during renovation or rebuilding. For many years now the calcium silicate industry has had good reason to plead the case for the unanchored cavity wall. People live very close to each other. People have the right to rest and relaxation. This means that everyone should be able to enjoy their hobby without this causing nuisance for others. Unfortunately not everyone can live in a detached house. Many live in terraced houses or flats and have to contend with neighbours. It is obvious that no one wants to be prevented from using his or her dwelling in the manner they would like. At the same time, no one wants to have to contend with noise from the neighbours. Nowadays, it is very common for rules to be set in this regard. In addition to statutory requirements, the wishes of (future) occupants also play an increasingly significant role in the building process. Naturally there are limits to this: the furnishing of a house cannot be so regulated that the occupants feel that their private life is being intruded upon. Everyone will be ready to take others into account to a certain degree but this readiness will depend on the effort that one has to make and the behaviour of the neighbours. Good soundproofing does not occur of its own accord. The theoretical best solution can of course be realized in practice, but it also has the highest costs associated with it. The solution that suffices in practice will have to be examined on a case by case basis. It is therefore important that builders and occupants have insight into the various quality levels for soundproofing and the costs that are associated with this. NPR 5070 The performance requirements in relation to soundproofing, as mentioned in the Buildings Decree, should be achieved in practice. NPR 5070:2005 was introduced in 2005. This practical guide contains more in-depth information in relation to soundproofing in accordance with the Buildings Decree, but can also be used for the comfort class. Soundproofing of calcium silicate The soundproofing between dwellings is one of the most important conditions for comfortable living. Naturally, SILKA walls meet the requirements in relation to soundproofing.
