Fermacell launches "Orange Book"

Blood, sweat and tears – a true reflection of the effort that has gone into creating the most comprehensive technical handbook in the history of Fermacell!

Work started on this demanding project in January 2009 and it was completed and launched at the beginning of this year. “It’s been a team effort,” says Area Sales Manager Dave Prout, who colleagues say did a tremendous job in co-ordinating the last push in completing and getting the manual off to the printers.

Andrew Richardson, Fermacell’s Technical Manager, commented: “The new Orange Book handbook – also available in DVD version - is an excellent reference manual which provides a valuable and easy reference source to Fermacell products and solutions.

“It covers every aspect of Fermacell and its properties, and includes information on training and technical support. There are individual sections on partitions, linings, flooring and ceilings, fire protection, timber frames and rainscreens covering components and accessories, detailed overview, component details, installation, overview and performance details.

“Feedback for the new Orange Book has been good and it should prove a valuable reference source for specifiers and contractors both familiar with our products and those new to them.

The first version of the manual took nearly three years as we were a smaller team then and I was balancing the day-to-day demands of my job, whilst trying to find time to create the UK version of the German manual,” he concluded.

Fermacell Launches UK distribution Centre

Xella Dry Lining Systems - manufacturers of Fermacell gypsum fibre boards has taken a major step forward in its plans to achieve nationwide penetration of the builder's merchants market with the opening of 110,000 sq. ft UK distribution centre.

This state-of-the-art facility is ideally located - Immingham is the UK's largest port by tonnage - and Xella has signed up a leading freight shipping company to consolidate and deliver orders to its Fermacell customers. Xella has chosen Norfolk Logistics to provide a robust and scalable logistical solution to support an expansion plan for the UK that includes international and domestic transportation, as well as UK warehousing and distribution.

Xella's UK General Manager Tim Deathridge commented: "We are now ideally placed to open doors to a new generation of Fermacell customers, whilst providing an even better service to our existing ones. Following on from the success we have enjoyed through ongoing association with builders merchants, Immingham will enable us to broaden our offering and allows us to deliver a single pallet upwards to anywhere in the country within 72 hours, whilst offering a next day service for accessory orders. This means that we can meet the requirements of someone just needing a small quantity of Fermacell to perhaps dry line an extension, through to a developer wanting to construct a four bedroom detached house or an apartment block."
