Xella International introduces autoclaved aerated concrete blocks in UK

New Ytong building block on British market
There’s a new building block in the UK. It’s the Ytong autoclaved aerated concrete block. It has a bright white colour, precise measurements and is available in a very wide product range. Xella UK, part of the Xella International Group, introduces Ytong aircrete blocks into the UK market. Ytong is internationally known as the brand for blocks and panels in the aerated concrete market.
Aerated concrete consists of microscopic cells filled with air. This makes the block very light and gives the aircrete block its unique characteristics of excellent thermal and sound insulation. Furthermore the blocks have unlimited constructional possibilities and good building physical properties. It is, for example non-flammable and impermeable to frost and moisture. The Ytong block is also easy to finish and use. All these qualities allow you to build more efficient, sustainable and economically.
The new block is robust enough to be used for all your needs from houses, commercial buildings and renovation. Load bearing or non load bearing, a solid wall construction, a fully filled or partial filled cavity or a partition wall, Ytong has the block. With either 440 x 215mm or 610 x 215 mm face size and strengths 2.9, 3.6, 7.3 and 8.7N the blocks are available in all sorts of formats and densities. Xella UK offers a complete product range with lightweight energy blocks, standard blocks, foundation- and hi-strength blocks, and coursing units.
Ytong blocks are made of lime, water, cement and sand. No PFA is added. The result is a light white building block. The Ytong block will be the only aerated blocks in the UK, which is produced without fly ash.
All products are manufactured to comply with European standards EN 771-4 (CE-marked). Ytong blocks are produced in an optimal controllable environment. As a result the blocks have very precise measurements. This allows for tolerances of ± 2 mm on all dimensions.

Ytong wall elements comply with European Directives and the requirements of the Buildings Decree.
The Ytong aerated concrete wall elements have had European Technical Approval (ETA) within the scope of European harmonization since as early as 2003. This ETA 03/2007 has now been extended with an IKOB-BKB certificate that provides the association with the requirements of the Buildings Decree. With this, interior walls constructed using Ytong wall elements comply with the most recent European Directives and the requirements of the Buildings Decree. ETA 03/2007 replaces the KOMO certification with product certificate, including in communications from Xella and in the provision of documents when carrying out work.
