Silka calcium silicate elements are particularly suitable for large, load-bearing walls because of their dimensions. Working with these elements contributes to fast building and particularly smooth walls. The elements are large and strong – and therefore cost-effective. They are widely used in housing construction, both low and high-rise buildings, schools, care homes, hotels, etc...,. Major advantages include their compressive strength, flexibility and simple mechanical processability.

Application of Silka wall elements
Partition walls between houses
For partition walls between houses, there is the choice of a single massive partition wall and a construction involving anchorless cavity walls. From an acoustic point of view, the anchor-free cavity wall is preferred, as it performs better in the area of acoustic insulation.
Load-bearing and non-load-bearing inner walls
The flexibility and simple processability of Silka elements make them ideally suited for use in inner walls, whether these are load-bearing or not.
Load-bearing and non-load-bearing inner cavity sheets
Silka elements are suitable for putting up inner cavity sheets. The elements form the basis for traditional residential construction. An insulation package is installed in the cavity; next, the outer cavity sheet is made, for example out of brickwork – the good old 1-2-3 job.

Simple processing technique
The Silka wall elements are mechanically processed with a setting machine and supporting equipment. This method of building is flexible, fast, work-friendly, requires little preparation, and produces less waste than its alternatives. Expensive investments in materials, such as concrete formwork and heavy building cranes, aren’t needed.
A fast, rational building method that isn’t too work-intensive
Building prefab means building ‘just-in-time’ and quickly. Silka wall elements are industrially prefabricated, can be delivered on demand and offer quick, clean installation with minimal waste right out of the factory. The resulting cost and time savings are considerable.
Water vapour regulating capacity
Silka calcium silicate is able to absorb moisture and later release it again, facilitating moisture management in buildings. In other words: Silka materials ensures a pleasant living environment, while ruling out moisture and fungi.
Calcium silicate is able to absorb the heat in a room and release it again when the room cools down. This means that outside temperatures only affect inside temperatures after a certain amount of time. Because of this, rooms are cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Thanks to the high volumic mass of calcium silicate, walls made of Silka elements have a high acoustic insulation capacity.
Incombustible and fire-resistant
Silka calcium silicate is incombustible. Depending on the thickness of the wall, Silka walls are able to withstand a fire for longer than 360 minutes. The material retains its characteristics and does not deform.
Environmentally friendly and sustainable
Silka calcium silicate is a sustainable choice in every respect. It is made from widely available natural resources: chalk, sand, and water. The production process is energy efficient. Calcium silicate is completely recyclable.
